Days 21-30
R-report
[Day 25] 中 - middle / inside
The kanji 中 originally represents being in the middle or inside of something and is one of the most common characters in everyday Japanese — used for physical inside, midpoint, central positions, and in many compound words (countries, schools, centers). Readings: On'yomi and Kun'yomi are both very productive: On'yomi (used in compounds) is チュウ (chuu) as in 中国 (ちゅうごく / chuugoku) and 中心 (ちゅうしん / chuushin); Kun'yomi (native reading) is なか (naka) as in 中に (なかに / naka ni) and うち (uchi) in some set phrases. Mnemonic tip: imagine a vertical line drawn through the exact center of a box — that middle line is 中.
Readings
On'yomi: **チュウ (中)** (chuu) Kun'yomi: **なか / うち** (naka / uchi)
